Requiem Blaster

The Requiem Blaster (also known as the Astro Blaster) is a fictional device in the Transformers series. Its physical form in some of the Transformers continuities resembles the laser rifle wielded by Optimus Prime in the Generation One era cartoons and comics.

Contents

Transformers: Armada

Formed from the combination of the Mini-Con Space Team (Astroscope, Payload, and Skyblast), it is one of three powerful weapons that also function as the keys to fully awaken Unicron from dormancy. The other two weapons are the Star Saber and Skyboom Shield.

The three weapons were also used by Thrust as the power source for the Hydra-Cannon.[1]

Curiously, the Requiem Blaster seems to be able to fire numerous forms of energy. Some seem to create a gravitational pull towards the main ray of energy, while others are the simple purple rays of energy. It's portrayed as the most powerful of the three Mini-Con weapons, even though when it was used against the Star Saber and the Skyboom Shield on two occasions they weren't destroyed by it.

Toys

The Road Assault Mini-Con Team was repackaged with the Space Team as a discount six pack of Mini-Cons under the Energon label. These toys were identical to the Armada version.

Transformers: Prime

The Requiem Blaster was a weapon that Megatronus Prime commissioned Solus Prime to create for use against Unicron. After seeing its devastating power, the Thirteen voted seven to six to keep the Blaster.

Novels

The Requiem Blaster appears in Transformers: Exiles.
